VISION

This whole-home transformation in Clarks Summit, PA reimagined a modest single-story ranch as a thoughtfully designed two-story Craftsman — built around the evolving needs of two young professionals growing their family. The design honors the simplicity of the original home while elevating it with timeless Craftsman architecture and family-forward functionality.

By expanding vertically, the home gained much-needed space without losing its neighborhood presence. Strong Craftsman elements — a welcoming front porch, tapered columns, and layered rooflines — make it feel established, grounded, and built to last for generations.

Inside, the main level was designed for daily life and connection: open yet defined spaces for gathering, entertaining, and working from home. A light-filled kitchen anchors it all, flowing into living and dining areas where young children can play within sight while adults cook, host, or unwind. The new second story adds private, restful zones — bedrooms designed to adapt from nursery to teen, and a spacious primary suite that offers a quiet retreat.

The transformation turned a once-limited ranch into a forever home — one that supports career growth, family milestones, and everyday moments within a timeless architectural envelope.

Project Selections

The exterior of the home features Harvey Windows Classic new construction windows in a 6-over-6 style with white interiors and exteriors, complete with full screens, grids, and three-sided flat casing with a sill nose bottom. The façade will be complemented by white fascia, Mastic Newport Bay siding in a 4-inch profile with Double 7 Perfection styling, and white tapered columns that reinforce a classic architectural look. A Therma-Tru 36-inch front door (CCA260) with dental moulding and matching CCA3400SL sidelites will be finished in a rich mahogany stain, creating a warm, welcoming entry. Outdoor living is enhanced with a Harvey Tribute triple patio door featuring 15 lites and a center operable slider, while the roof will be finished with CertainTeed Landmark shingles in Pewterwood.

Inside, the home blends comfort and craftsmanship through layered finishes and thoughtful selections. Mohawk Top Notch carpet in Penthouse adds warmth to select areas, while a mix of luxury vinyl tile—including Urbane Maison and Moduleo Castle Oak—provides durability and style throughout. Walls are primarily finished in eggshell Sherwin-Williams tones such as Repose Gray, Inkwell, and Silverpointe, paired with flat white ceilings and semi-gloss white trim and moulding. Interior doors feature a two-panel arch-top cottage style with oil-rubbed bronze hardware, reinforcing a classic Craftsman aesthetic.

Bathrooms are appointed with a combination of Kohler fixtures, Basco shower doors, and Delta Linden collections in both stainless steel and Venetian bronze finishes, offering a cohesive yet varied design across spaces. Cabinetry selections include Trestle Glacier and Bishop Pebble, topped with Kerrico cultured marble and granite surfaces, while plumbing fixtures and accessories are thoughtfully coordinated for both function and style. Additional features such as Aker tubs and shower units, dual-flush toilets, and integrated storage solutions ensure everyday usability.

The kitchen anchors the home with Bishop cabinetry in Willow and Glacier finishes, paired with Wilsonart Marrara and White Fantasy countertops with a half bullnose edge. A Delta Trinsic faucet in Arctic Stainless complements an Elkay Quartz Luxe undermount double-bowl sink, bringing together durability and modern design. Throughout the home, each selection has been carefully curated to create a cohesive environment that balances timeless materials, practical performance, and refined aesthetic appeal.

Soon after we purchased our home, we conscientiously sought a company to turn our vision into a realty.  Today we feel very fortunate to have found Perez Design, Build, and Remodel, LLC.

After a few meetings with Adam Perez, we felt confident that we were hiring the right company to remodel our home.  Adam presented us with a very clear, comprehensive plan that detailed the stages and cost of the project.  When we look back at where we started, and where we are today, we are amazed by all that the Perez team was able to accomplish in three months.

Designing the home was stress-free and uncomplicated.  Tracy and David listened and offered invaluable advice.  Their design knowledge and expertise helped us maintain the style and character of the home, while blending some of the furniture pieces we have collected over the years.  With every design decision, they married our style and preferences with the mid-century style of the house.  The end result is absolutely stunning.  We envision enjoying this house for many years to come.

The demolition, construction, and installation went so quickly and smoothly.  Jason and his dream team kept the project moving.  Even with change orders, Jason and his team kept the project on track and got us into the house a week earlier than the projected move-in date.  In three months, he turned a very dated 1970’s home into a custom dream home.

During the construction phase, we visited the house almost daily.  With each visit, there was noticeable progress.  Jason was always available to answer any questions or address our concerns.  He was very patient and he listened.  He carefully and creatively resolved any problems.  We feel as though he worked on our home as if it was his own.  He payed close attention to details and made sure things were done right.

On more than one occasion, Jason and Mike went above and beyond to make sure we were happy.  In the early stages of the project, we had a lot of rain.  While working in the basement, Mike noticed water seeping in through the window well.  He phoned us and immediately began cutting pieces of wood to prop up all of our furniture we had stored in the basement during the remodel.  When we arrived at the house, all of our furniture was secure, and he was working vigorously to dry up the floor.   Then, when planning to move back into the house, we experienced a scheduling conflict with the moving company and Richard’s travel schedule.  Jason accommodated an earlier move-in date, which helped resolve this conflict.  Later, while moving back into the house, the movers we hired were not able to get our big leather couch into the basement where we wanted it.  Jason and his team worked their magic and figured out a way to get the couch in the basement.  Thank you!!!

Perez DBR just completed a renovation on several rooms, and we couldn't be more happy. The communication has been frequent and thorough since the beginning, and we really appreciated how detail oriented our team was from planning all the way through execution. Multiple people showed up for various parts of our remodel (demo, construction, electrical, painting, and plumbing), and each person was friendly, hard working, and an expert in their field. We also requested several changes to our original plan, and they happily accommodated for our alterations and did quality work.
